Why Does Nature's Crib Only Carry Organic Sleep Products?

At Nature's Crib, we've made a deliberate choice to carry only certified organic sleep essentials—and we'd like to explain why.

Our Commitment to Purity

When it comes to products that touch your family's skin for 8-12 hours every night, we believe there's no room for compromise. Certified organic fabrics meet the strictest standards for safety, sustainability, and transparency. Every product we carry is free from:

  • Synthetic pesticides and herbicides
  • Toxic flame retardants
  • Formaldehyde and other VOCs
  • Harsh chemical dyes and finishes
  • Genetically modified materials

Why Not Bamboo or Other "Natural" Fabrics?

We're often asked about bamboo bedding and sleepwear. While bamboo is marketed as eco-friendly and natural, the reality is more complicated.

The Bamboo Processing Problem: Most bamboo fabric (bamboo rayon or viscose) undergoes heavy chemical processing using caustic soda and carbon disulfide to break down the bamboo plant into usable fiber. This process:

  • Uses harsh chemicals that can leave residues in the final fabric
  • Creates environmental pollution during manufacturing
  • Lacks the rigorous third-party certification standards of organic cotton

While bamboo lyocell uses a more eco-friendly closed-loop process, it still doesn't meet the same health and safety standards as GOTS-certified organic cotton.

The GOTS Difference

We exclusively carry products certified by the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)—the gold standard for organic textiles. GOTS certification means:

  • Verified organic farming: At least 95% organic fibers, grown without synthetic pesticides or GMOs
  • Safe processing: Strict limits on chemical inputs throughout manufacturing
  • Social responsibility: Fair labor practices and safe working conditions
  • Third-party verification: Independent audits at every stage of production
  • Transparency: Full traceability from farm to finished product

Better for Sensitive Skin

Many families come to us because of eczema, allergies, or chemical sensitivities. Organic fabrics are:

  • Naturally hypoallergenic
  • Free from irritating chemical residues
  • Breathable and gentle on sensitive skin
  • Safe for babies, children, and adults with skin conditions

Our Promise

By carrying only certified organic products, we've done the vetting for you. You don't need to decode labels, research certifications, or wonder about hidden chemicals. If it's at Nature's Crib, it meets our uncompromising organic standards.

We believe healthier sleep starts with purer choices—and organic is the purest choice we can make.
