Benefits of Breastfeeding

It is an important decision whether to breastfeed or bottle feed. Having the support you need is one of the keys to being successful. Whether you choose to breastfeed exclusively or supplement with formula giving your baby breast milk has many benefits.

Breastfeeding creates a beautiful bond between mother and baby. The skin-to-skin contact will help the baby feel safe and warm and help mom feel relaxed.

Mothers milk is packed with important nutrients to help build the immune system which will help protect your baby from infections, illnesses, and disease. Your baby will get a great start growing strong and healthy. Research shows that some of the many health benefits may include a lower risk of asthma, less ear infections, obesity, type 1 diabetes, and less stomach issues.

Breastfeeding is economical and very convenient because there are no bottles to boil, no formula to make and its readily available whenever your baby is hungry. More time to enjoy your baby.

If you choose to breastfeed, be sure to have all the support you need. Find support from other moms who breastfeed in your community, at church, among family and friends, your pediatrician, and online resources. Below are a few breastfeeding resources to help you.
